Yeah, funerals suck. But so do the wakes, where the point is to pay your respect before the actual funeral part. A few years back, my maternal mexican great-grandad died. My crazy ass family held an open casket and he looked like a drag queen. Super creepy. But what was even worse was that they had music playing in the background. But not just any music; it was The Godfather theme song! All I could think was ,"Goddamn, none of us are even close to being Italian. This is so fucked up." Also, the majority of the people that went to the wake spent their time out in the parking lot, drinking beer. In conclusion, funerals are bad, as are wakes. Hunter S. Thompson was smart to want to have his ashes shot out of a cannon.
